Subject PARAS

Paraprofessionals are just as important to the classroom as teachers are. Many teachers, myself included, can attest to the impact that good paras (like good teachers) have on a classroom environment. Therefore, it is my opinion that when it comes to line of duty injuries, paras should receive the same benefits. If I am selected for the contract negotiation committee, this is something I will look into.

Subject Sickness and Line of duty injuries for paraprofessionals

We work in small environments I think Paraprofessionals should get more paid sick days as we are exposed to all the germs that the students come to school with. I can go on and on. And we need to change the contracvt for line of duty injuries. We should have the same benefits that teachers have. Everyone needs to remind themselves that puytting yourself in harms way may cost you all your sick days your benefits and your job if you cannot work due to line of duty injury, Thats ridiculous....! We getr hurt protecting our students and if we are mamed or injured we lose out benefits after 3 months. What the heck? Cannot buy a home with that ! You get hurt line of duty and lose your job and benefits! We need to fight to change this, ....!

IT COULD BE YOU!

Support our ATR colleagues. Our contract guarantees their employment and salaries, but when these experienced and competent teachers lost their regular positions, through no fault of their own, they ended up frequently being used only as substitutes or teaching out of license. At the same time,...

Without COPE, There's no HOPE

The UFT won a slew of political victories in Albany and City Hall during the last school year, and the union couldn’t have done it without the voluntary financial contributions of members to the union’s ongoing legislative and political work. The wins — which included getting the state and...

YOUR TO DO LIST

JUST FOR PARAS

SAFETY IS EVERYONE’S ISSUE
